The Bachelor’s program in Mechatronics is strongly orientated towards Informatics. Only a small part of it deals with mechanical subjects. The degree program has been running since 2003 and has so far focused on automation. The new alternative option, which is offered since October 2010, focuses instead on microelectronics, specifically electronic circuitry. Graduates of this program will be able to develop electronic devices, which in many cases will include the development of both hardware and software. Graduates can either go directly into industry as engineers, or take a Master’s degree (on merit). Suitable programs include the Master’s programs of the rbz, the Master’s in Mechatronics at Reutlingen, or other Master’s degrees at other universities.
The main admission requirement for this program is the Entrance Qualification for Universities of Applied Sciences (“Fachhochschulreife”). The academic title of Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) is awarded after a study period of seven semesters, which includes an internship semester in industry.
Special features of the Mechatronics program in Reutlingen include the excellent opportunities to study abroad for one semester, and the close links with industry which offer the possibility of scholarships for good students.
Fees: There is no tuition fee. The administrative fee is as follows:
Summer Semester 2018: 158,80 Euro per Semester (88,80 Euro for exchange students)
Winter Semester 2018/19: 163,80 Euros per Semester (93,80 Euro for exchange students)
